Friends of the Walkway, the nonprofit partner of the Walkway Over the Hudson, support the park by connecting communities and enhancing the Walkway experience for all. We play an active role in making the Walkway one of the friendliest and most welcoming parks in the region - and you can too!
Our volunteers are essential to our success and growth. Each year, they contribute more than 9,000 hours of service, helping to host events, operate the ADA-accessible tram, lead educational programs and tours, welcome visitors, and support countless other initiatives that make the Walkway a vibrant destination for all.

Walkway Over the Hudson stands as a symbol of connection, preservation, and possibility. Our volunteers are the heart of that connection; sharing knowledge, offering hospitality, and ensuring every visitor feels welcome.

What Our Volunteers Say

The Walkway is a great opportunity for any volunteer. It's a way to connect with the community; let visitors know about the beauty and history of the area; and to interact with visitors who are always in a good mood.

My role as an Ambassador has given me the opportunity to meet many interesting and wonderful people from around the world. Through our shared conversations, I enhance their experience of the bridge and the Hudson Valley, and they, in turn, enrich my life. This unexpected and rewarding aspect of being an Ambassador is something for which I am truly grateful.

When you see how many people come from all over the world to the Walkway, it’s a privilege to help keep it such a beautiful experience.
