AFI CAMPUS SECURITY

The AFI Campus is monitored by AFI Security personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Campus Security serves as the first responders for all campus safety and security matters and plays an essential role in maintaining the safety of the AFI community.

All visitors to the AFI Campus must be pre-approved and are required to check in with Campus Security upon arrival using a valid state or government-issued ID.

PREVENTING & REPORTING HAZING AT AFI

The American Film Institute Conservatory strictly prohibits hazing in all forms. The Conservatory has adopted an anti-hazing policy which establishes definitions, prohibited conduct, reporting options, response procedures, transparency requirements, and prevention education.

You can review the AFI Conservatory’s anti-hazing policy here.

EMERGENCY TEXT ALERT SYSTEM (EVERBRIDGE)

AFI Security partners with Everbridge to provide timely emergency notifications to the AFI Community.

Through Everbridge, alerts can be delivered via:

  • Email
  • Text message
  • Mobile devices through the Everbridge app.

This Text Alert system is used to send targeted alerts related to emergencies, safety updates, weather conditions, traffic or parking disruptions, and other time-sensitive information.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) is the second line of response in supporting AFI Security during emergency situations on campus. The team is comprised of a core group of staff members who volunteer to assist the AFI community during crisis and emergency events.

ERT members receive biennial training in basic first-aid, CPR and emergency response procedures. In coordination with Campus Security, the ERT helps maintain clear communication during emergencies, assists with building evacuations when necessary, and support the safe evacuation of individuals who may be injured or unable to exit on their own. During emergency situations, ERT members are responsible for ensuring their designated areas are cleared and are typically the last individuals to exit those areas.

In addition to emergency response responsibilities, ERT members help support ongoing campus safety efforts by reporting unsafe conditions, participating in periodic training sessions, and assisting during emergency and fire drills. These activities help maintain a high-level of  preparedness across campus and ensure potential safety concerns are communicated to AFI security in a timely manner.

During an emergency, the ERT plays an important role in supporting AFI’s coordinated response and recovery efforts.

ANNUAL SAFETY REPORT

The Clery Act requires colleges and universities to disclose policy statements and crime statistics for incidents that occur on campus, on public property adjacent to campus, and in certain non-campus buildings or properties owned or controlled by the institution.

This information is published in AFI’s Annual Safety Report on or before October 1 each year and includes crime statistics for the previous three calendar years.

The Annual Safety Report can be viewed electronically using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
