Hill Changes - latest updates to summit location and height

The Hill Bagging site has the most up-to-date data such as locations and heights for the hills recorded in the Database of British and Irish Hills (DoBIH).

These changes are researched by a team of dedicated editors who review hill data using sources such as LIDAR aerial surveys, maps, GPS receiver recordings kindly submitted by hill-bagging users, and observations provided by the hill bagging community.

You can view a log of recent changes to the DoBIH - these changes are applied to this website before they are generally released on DoBIH.

Refer to the Database Notes section of the DoBIH website (www.hills-database.co.uk) for version release notes and other changes to the database.

The survey reports from the DoBIH survey team are available here for download.  A number of people have asked if they could contribute to the running of this website or the DoBIH.  We would like to direct such generosity towards the DoBIH Fund which goes towards the development of the database and purchasing and operating survey equipment - please donate here to support this work and the updating of this site.

• Change Requests  - Editors use these to make changes to name, class, area, summit heights and col heights and col positions. You can view the history of these for every hill on the hill page.
• GPS Data - This page is visible to Editors only and allows them to manipulate incoming GPS data from recorders.
• GR Updates - Editors use these to make changes to summit positions, summit features and to declare any useful observations which, frequently, involves a description of contending summits. You can view the outcomes on every hill page under 'GPS data'.
• Survey Reports  - also downloadable from the relevant hill page.
• Downloads - after changes have been applied this page allows uses to extract live data in various formats including CSV, GPSU waypoints, GPX waypoints, GPI - points of interest (long and short versions).
• GPS Summary * - This shows the percentage of GPS submissions accepted as 'summit' (c 85%). Many contributors submit data on contending positions for evaluation which are often very valuable. Details can be viewed on every hill page under 'GPS Data'.
• GPS Contributors * - This shows how many GPS recordings individuals have made.
