If you’re a candidate looking for Tech roles in India right now - you might have a number of concerns such as job availability, company stability & most recent compensation numbers.. While finding a job continues to be hard this quarter - there is some clarity on compensation figures in Tech - courtesy some great work done by the HireSure.ai (YC S22) team: If you open the attached image - you’ll find ballpark compensation bands across various Tech roles from SDE-I to Principal Developer and from APM to Director-Product: (1) Source of data? 📚 - Hiresure compiled this data from ~250+ participating venture backed companies starting ~2 quarters ago - They add ~25 more companies data each month (2) Accuracy? 🎯 - Based on offline discussions with other recruiters, the figures seem directionally right; they are at max ~10% off at certain roles. - They’re refreshing these numbers once per quarter (which is nice!) (3) Latest updates ⌛ - When I spoke to Hiresure’s founder Anurag, he highlighted that Sales, Marketing & Product roles have seen ~ 10% declines from the above figures. I had accessed the Hiresure data last quarter (personally) after discovering them via the YC network - was quite helpful in understand benchmarks for compensation. You can access the latest data for free via: https://lnkd.in/dTJ9rpix - feel free to use it as a candidate or as a recruiter; and, don’t forget to let others know. #technology #india #hiring

11 job portals I'd actually use to land a $150K+ role. (Not LinkedIn or Indeed) Most people applying for jobs are fighting over the same postings on LinkedIn and Indeed. Within an hour of a role going live, there are already 200+ applications. Sometimes 500. You're not competing with qualified candidates. You're competing with everyone who saw "Easy Apply" and clicked it. Here are 11 portals worth checking: 1. Wellfound: Startup roles with equity packages, often $150K+ base. 2. The Ladders Tech: $100K+ roles only, curated for senior professionals. 3. Levels.fyi: Shows comp data + job listings from top tech companies. 4. Hired: Vetted talent marketplace where companies apply to you. 5. Built In: Tech jobs in major hubs, strong senior role filters. 6. Welcome to the Jungle: Curated startup jobs, transparency on comp and equity. 7. Toptal: Elite freelance/contract roles, high hourly rates. 8. DICE: Tech-focused, good filters for senior engineering roles. 9. The Hacker News: Monthly thread, direct from hiring managers. 10. cord: Executive search and senior leadership roles. 11. Blind: Company-specific job boards, insider referrals possible. Pick 3-5 that match your field. Add them to your routine. Senior roles are competitive. Don't make it harder by only looking where everyone else is. Save this if you're searching. Follow Vik Gambhir for more resources, and insights on landing your dream role in the U.S.

LinkedIn only cannot get you your next job. It’s also important to know other platforms where companies put open positions as currently discovering a job as soon as it opens is the key to have higher chances of getting your profile noticed. Sharing a list of all platforms I was super active on during my Job Hunt and how I used them🔖 Naukri.com Used it majorly for discovering openings in bulk with a wide range of pay scales based on current role and CTC. Wellfound Majorly has startup openings, which generally open later on LinkedIn. Recruiters are also quite active and revert quickly if you fill the required details aptly. Instahyre The conversion directly through the platform was Okish, but it helped me discover jobs that were not present on any other platform. LinkedIn I had setup Job-alerts based on what I was searching for plus any of the portal I used to discover a opening in, made it a point to ask for referrals via LinkedIn. Company career portal This worked, when I was sure about a company I want to get in or companies which recently got funded. These generally have a lot of open positions on their career portal. 💡Pro-tip: Make sure you fill you profile properly in all these platforms and set-up a personalised filter. While it is time consuming consuming process in start but once setup, everyday you just need to open the created filters and apply. #jobs #jobmarket #PMjobs #jobhunt #layoffs #startegy

To the next generation of marketers: Graduating with a marketing degree is an incredible accomplishment—but let’s be honest, the degree alone won’t make you stand out in today’s market. The marketing profession is evolving rapidly, and early-career marketers must take extra steps to compete. Here are some hard-hitting facts: 1️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲. Nearly 60% of marketing majors work high-school-level jobs five years after graduation (Burning Glass Institute and Strada Education Foundation). To avoid that outcome, focus on developing T-shaped skills (I'll link a previous post on this topic in the comments). 2️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲. While 84.6% of students consider themselves proficient in professionalism, only 50% of employers agree (National Association of Colleges and Employers). 3️⃣ 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆. Forget memorizing the 4 P’s—your future will be about solving real-world problems, often in ways different from some of your classroom experiences. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁: 🔹 𝗕𝗲 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀-𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻. Marketing is as much about data as it is about creativity. Dive into analytics, learn Excel, and get comfortable interpreting metrics. 🔹 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. Intern at an agency and an in-house team. Explore industries you hadn’t considered. Broaden your perspective to discover where you thrive. 🔹 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳. Build your personal brand by writing blogs, growing your LinkedIn network, and showcasing your knowledge. Demonstrate your skills by connecting with industry leaders and engaging with their content. 🔹 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗖𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆. HTML/CSS, marketing automation tools, Artificial Intelligence, and Predictive Analytics—staying tech-savvy will set you apart. ------------------------------------------------------- To faculty and employers: Let’s help close the gap between academia and industry by preparing students for the skills that matter most. ------------------------------------------------------- The marketing profession is exciting, fast-paced, and full of opportunities for those willing to go the extra mile. Your degree is just the start—your determination, adaptability, and commitment to growth will define your career. #chiefmarketingofficer #marketing #internship

Most job hunters are using job boards wrong. That wastes time and causes burnout. The stories I hear are so discouraging: ❌ Endless scrolling ❌ Not seeing the titles you want ❌ Getting excited about jobs that may be fake ❌ Waiting and waiting and waiting Here's how to use job boards to support your efforts. (Not work against you!) ✅ Do searches on your top skills AND job titles ✅ Always click “Last 3 days” ✅ Note the titles & companies for jobs you like ✅ See if you have connections at the company ✅ Go to the company career page ✅ Search for the job title ✅ If it's missing, you just saved time. ✅ If you've got a connection, ask for a referral. ✅ Apply with 24 hours and use the referral if you can ✅ Follow up with a message to the hiring manager By searching on both skills and job titles, you will capture: 🛠️ Jobs that match your skills but have unfamiliar titles 🧠 Jobs that you hadn't considered By applying on the company website you will: 🌟Ensure the job is real 🧍Be able to add a referral 💡Pro-tip: Try LinkedIn's "Job Collections" which matches the skills and roles in your profile to various industries! If you have used Job Collections, let me know what you think in the comments! ♻️ Share to help job hunters be more effective! 🔔 Follow Sarah Baker Andrus for more career strategies 📌Need a change? The September surge is coming, and it's your best chance to get a job. Here are 12 U.S.-based job sites you should start using today to land interviews. 1. ZipRecruiter Link: ziprecruiter.com Think of this as the “easy apply” platform - but smarter. One click gets your resume in front of multiple employers, and the AI actually tries to match you with the right ones. 2. Glassdoor Link: glassdoor.com Not just for reviews. Use it to prep for interviews, check salary ranges, and find roles that align with your values—not just your skills. 3. Handshake Link: joinhandshake.com If you’re a college student or recent grad, this is where recruiters actually post internships and entry-level jobs just for you. It’s tailored to your school and your background. 4. WayUp Link: wayup.com This site is for students and fresh grads who don’t have connections or a big network. WayUp helps you get noticed by companies that are open to early talent. 5. USAJOBS Link: usajobs.gov All U.S. federal government roles are listed here. It’s a bit clunky, but if you want a stable job with benefits, it’s worth learning how to use it. 6. SimplyHired Link: simplyhired.com Aggregates listings from smaller sites and niche boards, so you’ll find roles here that don’t always show up on the bigger platforms. Solid for local and remote jobs. 7. Monster Link: monster.com It’s been around forever, and still works, especially for mid-career folks. Some companies still use Monster as their primary job board. 8. CareerBuilder Link: careerbuilder.com It doesn’t get as much attention as it used to, but it’s still a legit site with solid filters and company research tools built in. Worth a scan weekly. 9. Robert Half Link: roberthalf.com More than a staffing agency, they post real jobs in marketing, admin, tech, and finance. You can apply directly or get matched with a recruiter. 10. The Ladders Link: theladders.com If you're targeting six-figure roles, this site filters out lower-paying jobs. It’s more curated, less noise, more focus if you’re in that salary range. 11. Getwork Link: getwork.com Fast-loading, no-frills job board that pulls verified listings straight from employer websites. Great for no-BS job searching when you’re done with fluff. 12. Dice Link: dice.com If you’re in tech, product, data, or engineering, this site filters by skills and tech stacks in a way most sites don’t. More relevant, less random noise. Want to stand hired in the September Surge? → Pick 2–3 of these platforms that match your industry → Set up alerts → Apply with intention (not panic) → Follow up when you can And most importantly, start now. September will get crowded. P.S. Follow me if you are a job seeker in the U.S. I share real stories, resources, and frameworks to help you land your dream job.

How to Use LinkedIn for Job Searching Effectively 🏆 Most job seekers aren’t using LinkedIn to its full potential. Here are some tips to help you maximize your LinkedIn profile and stand out to employers. 1. Connect with Hiring Managers Reach out directly to hiring managers. LinkedIn allows you to connect with key people at companies, making it easier to get noticed. 2. Set Up Job Alerts You can create job alerts for specific companies, so you’ll be notified as soon as new positions open up. 3. Follow Companies of Interest Following companies you’re interested in helps you stay updated on their latest news and job openings. 4. Keep Your Profile Updated Regularly update your profile with your latest skills, work history, and education. Adding a background photo makes your profile more memorable. 5. Profile Optimization Hacks • Professional Headshot: Use a clear, high-quality photo. • Catchy Headline: Summarize your skills and career goals. • Detailed Summary: Highlight your experience, skills, and accomplishments. • Showcase Experience: Include relevant job titles, companies, and dates. • Industry Keywords: Add keywords related to your field to improve your visibility. • Education & Certifications: Highlight any relevant qualifications. • Recommendations: Ask for endorsements from colleagues or supervisors. • Media: Add images, videos, or documents to make your profile engaging. • Stay Active: Engage with your network and join relevant groups to keep your profile visible. 6. Crafting Your ‘About’ Section Your ‘About’ section is where you tell your career story. It should be concise yet detailed, highlighting your career journey, accomplishments, and passions. Use keywords and bullet points for readability. 7. Write an Effective Headline Your headline is one of the first things people see. Customize it with keywords related to your skills and role to increase your chances of appearing in search results. 8. LinkedIn Etiquette • Avoid Personal Topics: Stay professional and avoid discussing politics or religion. • Add Value: Post content that’s helpful or insightful for your network. • Avoid Negativity: Don’t speak poorly of past employers or colleagues. Mastering LinkedIn can significantly boost your job search efforts. By optimizing your profile, using relevant keywords, and actively engaging, you’ll stand out to potential employers. Keep it professional, stay active, and let LinkedIn work for you! ✍🏻Cynthia Nancy Omoviro™ (ACIPM)

5 Job Platforms worth bookmarking if you're a product or tech professional in India. Most people are refreshing the same two portals and wondering why they keep seeing the same roles. Here's what's actually worth your time: 1. Protocol Jobs (Strongly Recommended) → Built specifically for product and tech professionals in India → Scans thousands of sources and career pages across the internet to surface roles most platforms never find → A significant chunk of listings you won't find on LinkedIn or Naukri → Strong on mid to senior-level opportunities at top tech companies → https://lnkd.in/gpnYaJSw 2. LinkedIn Jobs is best used not for applying cold, but for finding who in your network works at your target company. Warm outreach beats cold applications every time. - linkedin.com/jobs 3. Naukri Best for inbound, keep your profile sharp and let recruiters find you. Less effective for active search at senior levels. - naukri.com 4. Cutshort, an India-based platform for tech roles. Decent AI matching works better for early to mid-level profiles. - cutshort.io 5. Simplify. Worth exploring if you are open to global opportunities. AI-powered matching with a browser extension that autofills applications across job boards. - simplify.jobs Save this. The next opportunity rarely comes from where you're currently looking.
