Story telling magic: In this immersive room you and your AI-adjusted shadow become part of a story of shadows. Whole space interacts with your movements and the light you carry. A project by artist Joon Moon. On view at the G.MAP visual art center, Korea. Here’s a longer description of the project: “The viewer’s light moves the shade and shadows of an entire room that is an 8m x 8m x 4.2m immersive projection environment. It’s an interactive narrative in which the story progresses to next stages when the viewer finds and approaches the shadows who call him here and there. The total viewing time is about 14 minutes. The story was written so that all interfaces such as the viewer's light, the shadows, the optical illusion, and the immersive environment could be incorporated into the narrative. It intended the viewer to be engaged completely in the narrative. The room was installed without any openings not only for surround projection, but also for the beginning of the story. Shadow kids are stuck in this room. They are flat shadows, but they become three-dimensional as the story progresses. Fishes jump out of the plane of the floor and swim in the air. In this optical illusion, the viewer deeply engages with the kids who make eye contact and take a light from the viewer’s hand. Using the light, the kids draw new shades and three-dimensional space. Doors open on the wall, and the kids explore the space hidden behind the room. Between 2D and 3D, they draw a pleasant story that the optical illusion creates.” I’ve added the website of Joon Moon in the comments.

AR and VR were once seen as experimental... Today, they’re solving our major problems. By 2030, the global market is projected to reach $200B+, with Europe contributing $15.8B by 2029. But the more important shift is where AR/VR is actually starting to work. We’re already seeing tangible impact in healthcare: → The World Health Organization reports a 20% reduction in surgical errors through immersive simulation. → The NHS in the UK now treats over 10,000 patients annually using VR-based therapies. → In France, hospitals using AR-assisted surgeries have achieved 35% faster recovery rates. Backing these outcomes, the European Investment Bank recorded over €5 billion in public and private investment in AR/VR healthcare applications in 2022 alone. Countries like Germany, France, and the UK are leading the way through industrial use cases. 5G networks are improving the technical foundation. And the integration of AI is making AR and VR systems more intelligent, more responsive, and easier to apply in real-world environments. The broader trend is clear: AR/VR is no longer a speculative bet. That changes the lens for both founders and investors. Instead of asking “What can we build with AR/VR?”, the better question is: “Where does this technology naturally integrate to unlock measurable value?” We have put together in the map below the AR/VR startups in Europe; if we missed any, let us know in the comments so we can add them in version 2 of this map. #Venturecapital #AI #Deeptech #Startups Follow us at APEX Ventures and subscribe to our newsletter for exclusive content on groundbreaking Deep Tech startups: 🔗 https://t2m.io/EV2qHQuo

Meta leads the global XR (AR/VR headset) Market; AR glasses captured one-fourth of the share in Q3 2025, Counterpoint Research VR is slowing, while AR+AI smart glasses are expanding the market into a more “daily-wear” form factor, and that naturally fragments shares. #Meta still led VR but felt the slight slowdown. Meta's shipments dipped 4% YoY and share fell to 57% (from 71% in Q2). At the same time, AR smart glasses hit their highest-ever quarterly shipments, pushing AR to ~25% of total XR volumes, with #MicroLED rising to 25% of AR shipments. Meta’s strategy is clear with Ray-Ban Meta Display: enter early, scale fast through mainstream eyewear distribution, and make #AI + camera glasses a daily habit while displays mature. Notably, sales began Sept 30, so Q3 sell-in reflects just one day; the real signal will be Q4 demand and how quickly Meta can convert “glasses” into its next platform. RayNeo’s rise is what “right product at the right moment” looks like in #AR+AI glasses. It’s less about spec wars and more about shipping volume as the category moves to everyday utility. Sony remains the steady premium anchor with #PSVR2, because ecosystems beat one-off hardware cycles. When content and platform gravity are strong, you don’t need to win units; you win engagement. XREAL is quietly riding the shift toward display-led smart glasses as the mainstream “personal screen” use case forms. If comfort, optics, and portability keep improving, this lane will expand faster than many expect. PICO XR is proving that #XR demand for enterprise and location-based entertainment can still move meaningful volume. In a soft market, predictable deployments matter more than hype-driven launches.

Can AI put viewers in the director’s chair? What if you could step inside your favourite movie, replace the lead actor and experience the story firsthand? While this may sound like a child’s dream, can it actually become a reality? “I think it’s definitely possible,” said director and actor MG Srinivas in an exclusive interaction with AIM. With the evolution of virtual reality (VR) games, interactive experiences have advanced significantly. Srinivas recalls an early encounter with this technology: “I remember experiencing something similar about seven years ago at a tech exhibition. I watched a 15-minute virtual reality short film where the narrative changed based on the viewer’s choices.” He explained that if the viewer turned right, the story followed one path; if they turned left, it took another. Yet, despite the divergence, both routes led to the same ultimate conclusion—a love story. “This was six or seven years ago, and technology has evolved since. Cinema is moving beyond passive storytelling. In the near future, we might see experiences beyond 3D, 4D, or 5D—perhaps an entirely interactive medium where viewers influence the film in real time,” he predicted. Full story link in the comment.

Reactor shows real-time generated worlds 🌍 Reactor has just shown its early preview for Real-time World Models: worlds generated in real time, interactive and powered by low-latency infrastructure. 🧠 The point is not just creating an image or a video, but generating an environment that changes while the user moves through it. In the demo, we see a fantasy world that can be explored and modified through visual directions, almost as if the content were no longer a finished file, but a living space. 🎮 This is one of the most important directions for AI: moving from linear generation to interactive simulation. Not “make me a scene”, but “build a world where I can move, choose, change the atmosphere and see the response in real time”. ⚙️ If this technology truly matures, it could have a huge impact on gaming, virtual production, previs, interactive storytelling, education, simulations and immersive environments. ⚠️ But let’s be clear: this is still early. A real-time demo does not automatically mean coherent, stable, persistent worlds ready for complex productions. The real challenge will be maintaining spatial continuity, memory, believable physics and creative control over time. 💭 In my opinion, the most interesting point is that world models are becoming a new creative interface. They are not only about “generating content”, but about building spaces where content, motion and interaction exist together. 📌 After images, video and agents, the next AI frontier may be exactly this: navigable, editable and reactive generative worlds. And while today it may still look like a demo, tomorrow it could become one of the most important languages for creators, filmmakers, game designers and brands. 📱 Want AI updates on WhatsApp?
